CALC Conference 2026, Singapore is coming soon, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our sunny island!
Call for papers
We are now inviting submissions of papers for the Conference.
The Conference theme is “Legislating in a Changing World”. We welcome papers on all topics related to law drafting, including:
Legislative developments, especially laws that respond to contemporary issues and challenges, such as online harms, climate change, population trends, artificial intelligence, national security and international trade
The practice of drafting, including plain language drafting techniques, professional ethics, client and project management, the boundary between drafter and policymaker, and leveraging on technology
Drafting office management, such as attracting talent, professional development, workload and knowledge management
Other topics essential to law drafting, such as legislative procedure, law editing, law publishing and law revision
Proposals for papers should be sent to calc2026_papers@agc.gov.sg with the subject line “CALC 2026 Paper Proposal: [Title]”
Please enclose:
a short abstract of your paper (100 words or less); and
a short biography of yourself (150 words or less)
Please also indicate whether you prefer to do:
a shorter presentation (up to 15 minutes, including Q&A); or
a longer presentation (up to 30 minutes, including Q&A) (this is subject to the availability of slots)
If you are unable to be present in Singapore and require videoconferencing facilities to deliver your presentation, please indicate this in your email as well.
Call for proposals
We also welcome proposals for panel discussions, workshops or activities in other formats.
Proposals should be sent to calc2026_papers@agc.gov.sg with the subject line “CALC 2026 Proposal: [Title]”
Please include:
a short description of your activity (100 words or less);
short biographies of the speakers or facilitators (each 150 words or less); and
the proposed length of your activity (including Q&A)
Deadline
The deadline for submissions is 30 April 2026. We intend to accept proposals on a rolling basis, so early submissions are very welcome.
